Woman Dies in Officer-Involved Shooting in Butte County
(FOX40.com) – According to reports from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office dispatch, a 911 call was made by a local resident who reported an incident involving threats against someone's life at a nearby property, allegedly coming from a woman.

The BCSO indicated in a statement released to the media that the notification originated from the vicinity of Butte Creek Island Road, specifically within the 11000 block, located in the region of Butte Creek Canyon, approximately at 2:30 PM on Thursday. Upon their arrival, law enforcement officials observed a woman who was carrying a rifle.
According to the BCSO, the deputies present stated that the woman was aiming a rifle at them and ordered them to fire at her. One deputy then discharged a single round from their duty rifle towards the woman.
Subsequently, other deputy sheriffs promptly provided medical assistance to the 48-year-old woman, and she was taken to a nearby hospital. There, she succumbed to her wounds, according to the BCSO.
The BCSO indicated that this remains an ongoing investigation with the Butte County Officer-Involved Shooting Team and the Butte County District Attorney’s Office present at the location conducting their probe together with representatives from the California Department of Justice.
