ONEKAMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — Authorities have launched an inquiry following a wildfire that covered over 30 acres in Onekama Township on Sunday afternoon, says Onekama Township Fire Chief Rob Johnson.

The wildfire began on Sunday around 4 p.m., according to Johnson, who mentioned it was observed burning in "the marsh and woodland region" near Bayview Road.

Johnson stated that both Arcadia Township Fire and Bear Lake Township Fire aided in extinguishing the blaze, with a helicopter from the U.S. Forest Service also dropping water on the flames.

According to Johnson, there were no reported injuries and no structures sustained damage.

The flames have now been put out.
