Wellsburg, W.Va. (WTRF) – The Wellsburg City Council convened this evening, with discussions primarily focusing on traffic safety issues.

The council is contemplating several modifications following reports of damages inflicted by big rigs circulating around Charles Street.

The problem particularly concerns the side streets branching from Charles Street—specifically, 25th and 26th Streets. According to the complaint, trucks have been using these smaller roads, resulting in collisions with utility poles.

An suggested law would prohibit big rig traffic on 25th and 26th Streets, though they wouldn’t be banned on Charles Street.

We aren’t aiming to halt truck traffic on Charles Street. Our objective is to ensure that the side streets which weren’t meant to be utilized remain unused, due to the damage being caused.

Charles Harris – Member of the Wellsburg City Council, Fourth Ward

A spokesperson from Eagle Manufacturing, one of the firms managing the trucks implicated in the alleged damages, attended the gathering to discuss the suggested legislation with the council.

They requested that the council collaborate with them to develop potential solutions and ensure they stay informed about any suggested modifications.
