Toddler Dies in Tragic Crash After Traffic Stoppage on Missouri Interstate for Wildlife
MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) - A one-year-old girl has died after a crash involving a semi-truck in McDonald County Saturday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report , around 6 p.m., a Honda Accord and a Freightliner Cascadia were both heading south on Interstate 49, about one mile south of Goodman.
The crash happened when traffic on the highway had stopped due to an animal on the road. The Honda hit the back of the towed unit of the semi-truck.
A one-year-old child was transported to a medical facility in Neosho, where they unfortunately passed away subsequently. The operator of the Honda, a 22-year-old female, sustained slight injuries and was transferred to another healthcare center in Joplin. It has been noted that both the infant’s caregiver and the young victim hailed from Joplin originally.
The operator of the semitrailer, a 55-year-old individual hailing from North Carolina, escaped injury.
This signifies the 34th deadly accident for MSHP Troop D in 2025.
