Teen Stole Credit Cards, Made Over $3,200 in Unauthorized Purchases, Police Say

Jacek Gwiazda faced charges including second-degree larceny, four instances of payment card theft, four cases of unauthorized use of a payment card, and second-degree identity theft, according to a statement released by the Connecticut State Police on Thursday.
The illicit transactions from the four purloined cards occurred in Shelton, Ansonia, Seymour, and Derby, as stated in a warrant document. The aggregate amount attributed to these unauthorized expenditures totals $3,196.16. Specifically, per the same warrant, $489.54 was charged at a Stop & Shop located in Seymour, whereas $614.85 went towards purchases at a Dollar Tree store in Derby using the compromised card details.
Gwiazda is presently being held by the Department of Corrections for separate offenses and appeared before the Torrington Superior Court on Tuesday, according to law enforcement officials. His upcoming court date concerning these charges has been scheduled for June 26.
