Guns were discharged during a chase involving Claremont police on Thursday evening.

The Claremont Police Department reported that they received calls regarding an incident at Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, situated in the 4000 block of Miss Avenue, around 7:40 p.m., following reports of a man firing shots at a drone in the vicinity. This information comes from a statement released by the police department.

Police officers tried to halt the vehicle near Mills Avenue and Foothill Boulevard, but rather than complying, the alleged perpetrator reportedly shot at the law enforcement agents before speeding away, as stated by the Claremont Police Department.

The police have not mentioned whether they responded with gunfire.

The pursuit went on through Claremont, Pomona, La Verne, and Montclair for roughly 20 miles until an officer employed a PIT maneuver to disable the suspect’s car.

He hit the central barrier on the 10 Freeway, resulting in the truck losing a wheel.

At one point, according to law enforcement, the suspect tossed the pistol out of the pickup’s window. Authorities located it on the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway, just past the Indian Hill entrance ramp, close to where the motorist had halted the car.

The individual was apprehended following an attempt to flee on foot. The person has been recognized as 46-year-old Daniel Rombach from Claremont. He faced booking charges for trying to kill a law enforcement officer, using a dangerous weapon in an assault, committing a felony evasion, and unlawfully carrying a gun. As of now, he is still incarcerated with a bond set at $2 million.
