A China An Eastern Airlines flight descended into chaos as it landed because a passenger abruptly opened an emergency exit, stating they needed "some fresh air."

The video captures the result of a sudden incident where a male traveler pulled the emergency lever, causing the escape chute to deploy during the taxi phase of Flight MU5828’s arrival in Kunming from Changsha on May 11th. The aircraft was still on the runway at the time.

Based on accounts from those who saw him, the man seemed composed yet mentioned to some people that he unlocked the entrance simply to breathe some outdoor air.

However, his strange behavior allegedly led to confusion inside the aircraft, and travelers had to remain onboard for approximately 20 minutes as staff handled the incident before they could leave the plane.

Although nobody was injured, the individual in question—a young man—was removed from the aircraft by law enforcement for additional interrogation, according to reports from NeedToKnow.

The aircraft departed from Changsha, China, and landed at Kunming Changshui International Airport approximately at 8:42 am on May 11th.

In March 2022, an aircraft operated by China Eastern Airlines was part of the third most fatal air crash in Chinese history.

The internal flight departed from Kunming Changshui International Airport heading to Guangzhou but crashed en route, resulting in the deaths of all 132 people aboard.

However, the urgent door issue from this week isn't the sole strange occurrence happening up in the air recently.

In March, UA Flight 198 departed from Los Angeles International Airport at 1:44 pm PDT and was supposed to arrive at Shanghai Pudong International approximately 14 hours later. However, the pilot uncovered an alarming error during the flight.

The aircraft was rerouted back to California and touched down in San Francisco shortly after 5 pm, according to flight records monitored on FlightAware.

The passengers aboard the Boeing 787-9 eventually departed for Shanghai at approximately 9 pm and landed shortly after midnight, around 12:30 am local time.

United organized a new crew to transport the 257 passengers to Shanghai and offered them meal vouchers along with compensation for the disruption, according to a statement from a media representative.

The aircraft finally touched down at its destination with a delay of six hours, affecting several travelers' arrangements.

A traveler en route for work purposes informed CNN that they were compelled to rearrange their schedule for Monday following the substantial delay.

Another voyager mentioned they needed to travel an additional two hours post-landing in Shanghai, which left them utterly drained.

Yang Shuhan, who was also aboard the aircraft, mentioned that the pilot communicated his awkward error via the intercom and seemed to be 'quite frustrated' about it.

Yang informed CNN that she was given two meal vouchers worth $30 in total to utilize for a meal at the San Francisco airport.
