NMSU Professor Shocks with Horror Film Starring Hollywood Legend Al Pacino
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) — A movie theater in Las Cruces will host a special showing of "The Ritual," an upcoming horror film starring Al Pacino. This project wouldn’t have been possible without significant contributions from a New Mexico State University professor. Ross Marks, who teaches at NMSU’s Creative Media Institute, acted as one of the producers for this movie. Based on America's final officially recorded exorcism, "The Ritual" features renowned actors such as Dan Stevens, known for his role in “Downton Abbey,” alongside actress Patricia Heaton.
The film arrives in theaters across the country on June 6, however, the Allen Theatres Cineport 10 in Las Cruces will screen an exclusive preview on June 5 by invitation only. Professor Marks mentioned that upon reading the script, he immediately recognized its cinematic potential and leveraged his connections within the industry to secure Pacino for the lead role. After that, things quickly came together.
