Milwaukee Judge Indicted: Federal Grand Jury Charges Hannah Dugan
A federal grand jury has charged an individual through an indictment. Wisconsin a circuit court judge on Tuesday, who was detained last month for purportedly protecting an undocumented immigrant from federal authorities.
On April 25, Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan was taken into custody and faced charges related to obstructing an official proceeding. According to legal documents, her actions included protecting an undocumented migrant from federal authorities. Additionally, she was accused of attempting to hide this person to evade detection and apprehension by law enforcement.
Dugan was charged by a prosecutor federal grand jury following the hearing of statements about accusations that she supposedly attempted to assist an undocumented immigrant in evading apprehension in her court room.
On Tuesday, a federal grand jury met to review the potential charges, listening to testimonies which featured remarks made by Eduardo Flores-Ruiz’s former lawyer—who has now stepped down from the case—as well as the court clerk associated with Dugan.

Also testifying was Milwaukee County Judge Kristela Cervera, who presides over misdemeanor cases adjacent to Dugan’s courtroom. It was anticipated that the panel would determine whether to indict Dugan before her originally planned preliminary court appearance.

Dugan's lawyers informed Fox News, "Just as she stated following her unwarranted arrest, Judge Dugan maintains her innocence and anticipates being cleared of all charges in court."
Dugan is scheduled to appear before a federal judge on May 15 to answer for federal accusations including a felony charge of obstructing a federal agency and a misdemeanor count of aiding someone in evading arrest. It is anticipated that she will submit her plea regarding these allegations at this proceeding.

The FBI arrested Dugan For supposedly sheltering an illegally residing individual who had been expelled before, in her jury room with the intention of preventing ICE officers from apprehending him.
ICE, FBI, CBP, and DEA federal agents tried to apprehend Flores-Ruiz following his scheduled court appearance before Judge Dugan on April 18, as he was facing three misdemeanor assault charges related to an alleged attack on two individuals.
Dugan ordered the officers to go to the chief judge’s office, and once his hearing concluded, he had Flores-Ruiz and his lawyer taken out through a restricted jury exit, avoiding the public area where agents awaited to prevent his arrest, according to the complaint.

Last month, Her lawyer, Craig Mastantuono, informed the court, "Judge Dugan deeply regrets and objects to her arrest. It did not serve the purpose of ensuring public safety."
Attorney General Pam Bondi formerly criticized Dugan's moves on Fox's "America Reports."
“We found it unbelievable that a judge would actually do something like this,” Bondi stated. “It’s impossible to block a criminal proceeding. Truly, she should be ashamed. This was a domestic violence case, of all situations, and she prioritized shielding a criminal defendant instead of supporting the victims.”
Bondi stated that Flores-Ruiz assaulted two individuals, "a man and a woman."
"He punched the man multiple times, knocking him down and choking him, and also severely assaulted a woman; as a result, both needed to be hospitalized," she stated.
