ANCHorage, ALASKA (KTuu) -- On May 4, the Alaska Zoo honors the Star Wars movie series.

On April 4th, commonly referred to as "May the fourth be with you," this particular date holds a distinctive place at the Alaska Zoo.

Brian Peterson, who serves as an event coordinator and webmaster for organizations including the 501st Legion, the Rebel Legion, the Droid Builders, and the Galactic Academy, mentioned that their collective of Star Wars fans sets aside one day annually exclusively for visiting the zoo.

Peterson claims he attained his position by "associating with this eclectic group," gesturing towards the assembly of cosplayers standing behind him. Nevertheless, it was his son's fascination with R2D2 from the franchise that initially sparked things.

So, I began constructing that from nothing at all, and it gradually led to one thing after another, and I ended up with a diverse bunch... We simply started putting together costumes.

Their team goes beyond honoring May 4th. As Peterson explains, they regularly visit hospitals each month and take part in Comic Con as well as various other celebratory events that pop up.
