Major Change Floated for New James Bond
An acclaimed actor has suggested a significant alteration for the James Bond series following Daniel Craig's departure from the franchise.
He said he made the famous British agent Swedish. in an interview with The Times of London.
As per an entry dated May 3, 2025, from The Times of London The suggestion came from Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård.
When discussing his time in the Swedish military, Skarsgård and the interviewer delved into topics related to James Bond.
"Now it was required, but back then it wasn't compulsory, and my motivations weren't based on patriotism or defending my nation against a Russian invasion of Sweden since such concerns were not part of our consciousness at that point,” he explained. The Times of London.
He mentioned that he did it because at 19 years old, he had no idea what career path he wanted to follow, and he aspired to experience life as James Bond for half a year.
When asked if serving in the Swedish national military felt anything like being James Bond, he playfully responded to The Times of London , ”Definitely less champagne and models. It was quite bleak. But it was also a really good experience for me because I was a team leader, and when we were out on missions it was mostly me and three other guys, which was a lot of responsibility for an idiot teenager."
The publication cut to the chase, asking him whether he "would like to be James Bond?"
“I’m way too Swedish for that,” the actor initially said.
However, the author then noted that the Bond franchise's owners had just sold the franchise to Amazon, so "everything's up for grabs," floating a Scandinavian Bond "spinoff." The actor was born in Stockholm, Sweden, according to IMDb. He is the offspring of the renowned Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård.
Yeah,” SkarsgÃ¥rd remarked, “I could embody a highly courteous and diplomatic Swedish version of James Bond, one skilled in negotiations instead. ‘No firearms displayed here; merely tense boardroom discussions aimed at reaching agreements,’ he might say. Everyone would be under immense pressure, striving relentlessly to prevent conflicts or complexities—very quintessentially Swedish.’ Let me propose this idea!
Even though the spinoff might attract James Bond enthusiasts, DailyMail.com Earlier reports suggested that an internal document at Amazon proposed the next James Bond character should stay male and British. However, this information hasn't been officially verified yet.
Several names of British actors have been floated For the role, they considered Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and Theo James.
