Lin-Manuel Miranda Unveils Plans for Epic Baseball Movie
Vega Alta, a small municipality in Puerto Rico, houses both the family of Broadway composer, playwright, and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda and the relatives of the renowned Molina baseball siblings.
Yadier, Jose, and Bengie Molina all made it to the major leagues as catchers. The same goes for Bernie Williams. who has a mother from Vega Alta .

However, the renowned artist did share some information with Mercedes that has sparked the interest of baseball enthusiasts: Miranda is currently developing a screenplay centered around the lives of the Molina brothers.
“It’s truly amazing,” he stated about his hometown’s baseball heritage, “so being able to pay tribute to that in a film is something we’re genuinely striving to achieve.”

Bengie Molina was the first among the trio to make it to the major leagues, where he spent 13 years playing from 1998 to 2010 for teams such as the Angels, Blue Jays, Giants, and Rangers. His brother, Jose Molina, followed suit by competing at the top tier of baseball over a span of 15 seasons between 1999 and 2014 with various clubs including the Cubs, Angels, Yankees, Blue Jays, and Rays.
The youngest among the trio, Yadier Molina had the most extended career. Over his 19 years with the Cardinals from 2004 to 2022, he became a cherished icon in St. Louis, guiding the team to World Series titles in both 2006 and 2011.

A player with 10 All-Star appearances under his belt and over 2,168 hits throughout his career, Molina has been touted as a potential Hall of Fame member.
