Colorado House Approves Bill to Protect Schools and Hospitals From ICE Access
Following more than four hours of discussion spread across two days, legislators in the Colorado state House underwent extensive debates. on Saturday enacted laws to restrict federal immigration officials from entering certain locations in Colorado, including schools, and established penalties for organizations that disclose personal identification details of immigrants under particular circumstances.
This law would allow immigrants to petition the court to overturn a conviction related to a traffic infraction, minor offense, or Class 3 misdemeanor if they can show, for instance, that their attorney did not properly inform them about the potential negative effects on their immigration status following a guilty plea.
The state Senate had already passed the measure back in April.
