Pupils at an elementary school in New Hampshire barely escaped catastrophe when the ceiling of one of their classrooms gave way on Friday morning.

The Wolfeboro Fire Department indicates that they were alerted around 10:30 a.m. about a drooping ceiling along with lights coming loose from their fixtures in a second-floor classroom at the Carpenter School.

Immediately upon the firefighters' arrival, the whole ceiling in the classroom gave way and collapsed.

According to officials, all the children were evacuated in a peaceful, secure, and swift way.

"The prompt actions and strong situational awareness of the Carpenter team ensured no one was injured," stated the fire department in a social media update.

The reason for the collapse is still being looked into.
