Arkansas Secures Major Disaster Declaration Approval
President Donald Trump has declared a significant disaster in Arkansas after a series of tornadoes and severe storms hit the state from March 14-15, according to an announcement made via a press release by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
The announcement will provide federal disaster aid to Arkansas residents impacted by the storms.
The statement read:
After speaking with Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, President Donald J. Trump has declared a major disaster in Arkansas due to the severe weather events including storms and tornadoes from March 14-15. Earlier, Governor Sanders had requested such a declaration following these incidents.
“Throughout our state, we appreciate President Trump’s guidance and aid as we work towards recovery from the severe storms that hit Arkansas during the early part of spring,” stated Governor Sanders. “My discussion with the President was fruitful; he conveyed his backing for our state, and I voiced my complete approval of his proposals to revamp FEMA so it can be more cost-effective and offer increased direct help to those affected by disasters. Additionally, I’m grateful to Secretary Kristi Noem, who, having previously served as a governor, knows how to assist states in their rebuilding efforts following natural calamities.”
Following the Major Disaster declaration, President Trump has decided to provide Individual Assistance to those affectedArkansas residentsby the storm.
