Insider Blasts Honesty About Shedeur Sanders as NFL Draft Woes Continue
A lot of attention during the 2025 NFL Draft has been on Colorado Buffaloes' quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Who was eliminated during the initial round? And went on to slide further down the board on Friday.
Sanders was previously regarded as one of the premier quarterbacks in this year’s draft class, but for now, he's likely sitting at QB4 behind Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, and others. Tyler Shough All found new residences ahead of him.
One of Sanders's frequently speculated destinations for this autumn continues to be the Las Vegas Raiders, as reports suggestSanders is considering a move there. has kept up a strong connection with Raiders minority owner Tom Brady Over time, as the Raiders continue their search for a young quarterback to groom behind the experienced Geno Smith, Sanders appeared to be an ideal choice for Las Vegas heading into the second day of the draft.
However, the Raiders ultimately decided against selecting him with picks number 37 (a tradeback deal with the Dolphins), 48 (traded back with the Texans), and 58, opting for alternative players during each of their second-round choices.
Vic Tafur, an inside source for the Raiders, provided his candid assessment of how the team viewed Sanders at this stage in the drafting process:
As Shedeur has close connections with Tom Brady, the fact that the Raiders passed on him at picks 37, 48, and 58 reinforces concerns from other teams regarding the quarterback," Tafur stated on X. "I mentioned this during the Combine — his interviews, including the board work, did not go well at all.
It’s difficult to fathom that a subpar interview could have significantly damaged Sanders's prospects this much, but evidently, no teams are showing interest in the quarterback from Colorado just yet.
Earlier on Friday, ESPN insider Pete Thamel reported this information. The teams did not view Sanders as a first-round prospect. Based on how Day 2 of the draft went, they clearly don't consider him a second-round pick, either.
