Braves' Jarred Kelleyncic Caught in Double Standard Scandal by Ronald Acuña Jr., Demoted to Triple-A
The Atlanta Braves have decided to send outfielder Jarred Kelenic down to Triple-A approximately one week after he was at the heart of a controversy in the locker room.
Ronald Acuña Jr. The Braves' standout outfielder was displeased with Manager Brian Snitker’s response to a journalist following his decision not to discipline Kelenic for insufficient effort during their contest on April 19th.
Kelenic crushed a baseball towards right field and started strolling out of the batter’s box as if it were headed for a home run. However, once it struck the top of the wall and remained within the stadium, he attempted to transform what would have been a single into a double.

Regarding Acuña’s double-standard post, he has historical precedent on his side.
In 2019, Snitker removed him from the game due to errors on the bases similar to those made by Kelenic. However, Acuña chose to remain at first base upon noticing that the ball hadn't cleared the outfield wall as he had anticipated.
At the time, Snitker stated, 'He did not run,' via ESPN You have to leave quickly. This won’t be tolerated here.
Currently, Kelenic’s move down to Triple-A Gwinnett isn’t primarily due to his reduced effort, but instead because of his underwhelming performance at the beginning of the 2025 season. So far, he has been batting only .167 with an OPS of .531 across 65 plate appearances.
Once among Major League Baseball’s most promising young players with the New York Mets Kelenic has not had the most favorable experience at the major league level since his debut with the Seattle Mariners. This followed a trade involving Mets closer Edwin Diaz and ex-Met Robinson Cano.
He posted a batting average of .204 along with 32 home runs and 109 RBIs over three years with Seattle prior to being dealt to Atlanta heading into the 2024 season.
