The aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman was involved in a collision at sea with a merchant vessel near Port Said, Egypt, the Navy reported on Thursday.
The collision took place late on Wednesday while both vessels were in motion. Fortunately, it did not lead to any flooding or injuries on the carrier, and the ship's propulsion systems remained undamaged, according to a statement from the Navy.
According to a defense official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the information had not yet been released, none of the crew members on the merchant ship, the Besiktas-M, were injured.
The ship sailed to the Mediterranean and the Middle East, having just completed a port visit in Souda Bay, Greece.
