But new research from Tourism Australia names a beach in Tasmania as the country's best for the next year, 2025.

The title for Australia's top beach has gone to a 10km stretch of coastline in Tasmania's Bay of Fires Conservation Reserve.

While normally only one winner is chosen, in 2025 a bunch of nearby beaches jointly took out the top prize.

Tasmania's official "Beach Ambassador" Brad Farmer said for the first time a beach in the Apple Isle had won the award.

G'day mate, I spent heaps of time checkin' out the beaches in Tassie and fair dinkum, I was asked to pick one winner but mate, there was too many ripper options so I've changed me mind and given it to a bunch of beaut beach bays in the Bay of Fires instead.

The Bay of Fires beaches beat out over 12,000 other competitors.

Daytime temperatures at the bay have been around 14 to 17 degrees Celsius.

“Fair dinkum, some people reckon the cooler water's good for you, but even if you're not up for a cool-your-gets-dip, there's still heaps to do and see along this 10 k's of coastal real estate. It's a spot made for getting the camera out or wasn't it, fishing and surfing,” Mr Farmer said.

According to Mr Farmer, the Bay of Fires is the best beach in Australia because of a stretch of coastline featuring clear blue seas, white sand and impressive rock formations.

Coming in second was Woolgoogla, which is situated near Coffs Harbour, followed by Emily Bay Lagoon on Norfolk Island in third place.

Fair dinkum, Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell reckons Australia's got the best beaches in the world, no question.

This year's list's got to highlight to the world what already brings a fair dinkum cast of characters to this country – that Bondi and Brighton are top-notch, but it's worth throwing in the esky and heading in the bush to find some absolutely ripper beaches out in the regions.

There will be heaps of families, just like mine, that love flicking through the 'Best Aussie Beaches' list each year to decide which ones they'll head to next.

At times, the selections spark a lot of discussion, and I'm pleased to hear the opinions, and I'm looking forward to the feedback on this year's top 10.
