'Threat to US democracy': Legal experts detail 'radical motives' behind Trump’s mass firings

Stone says, "Donald Trump and Elon Musk's push to cut billions of dollars in federal spending each year, along with massive job and regulatory cuts, is sparking claims that they're making unlawful moves and undermining the authority of Congress and the judiciary, according to legal experts, Democrats, and state attorneys-general. Trump's flurry of executive orders that expand his powers in some extreme ways, as part of his cost-cutting zeal, combined with the unprecedented efforts by the 'Department of Government Efficiency' (DOGE), led by Musk, to slash many agency workforces and regulations, have created a huge mess across the US government and raised concerns about a threat to US democracy."

One of the key Democratic legal experts challenging this is Arizona's Attorney General Kris Mayes.

We lodge appeals when we disagree with the decisions - we don't disregard court orders or threaten judges with impeachment just because we don't agree with their rulings. This is a clear case of a coup, no ifs or buts about it.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-Rhode Island) likens Trump's sacking of over a dozen inspectors general to "firing police officers before you rob a bank."

I reckon their claims that they're after waste, fraud and abuse are just a cover-up for their real agenda…. It's pretty clear that what's going on here is a very deliberate effort to cause as much chaos in government as they can with the aim of helping out the big Trump donors and special interests who reckon government is a real nuisance in various ways.
