The Liberal Party is tipped to win the Prahran by-election, with candidate Rachel Westaway set to take over from outgoing Greens MP Sam Hibbins.

Ms Westaway's currently leading with 51.6% of the two-candidate-preferred vote, ahead of the Greens' Angelica Di Camillo by 954 votes, with all votes from polling day, pre-poll and postal votes counted.

The Greens got the most votes on election day, but the Libs won overall with votes cast before polling day and came close to snagging nearly two-thirds of the votes by mail, with only a few thousand postal votes still to be counted.

The Liberal Party will now win back the seat, which it last held in 2010.

Ms Westaway went to the polls on a promise to clean up crime and deal with the pressing social problems in the electorate.

E everyone wanted to come to Chapel Street, which winds its way right through the electorate, but we've seen a bit of a downturn in the seat.

We've seen crime, homelessness, graffiti, and empty storefronts.

Werribee's result is too tight to predict.

It's too close to say what the result of the Werribee by-election will be, with Labor experiencing a big swing against it - yet the two main parties managed to get less than 30 per cent of the vote.

The Labor Party got the most votes on election day, but with more than half of all votes being cast before the day of the poll, the outcome is still up in the air.

The seat has been a solid base for the Labor Party, with the party holding it since 1979.

The two by-elections are predicted to be a gauge of the performances of both the state and federal Labor governments, as well as the chances of the Liberal Party in Victoria, who haven't held power in the state since 2014.
