Starbucks fans can now look forward to receiving their cold coffee orders in cups with a fresh new design.
A change that has caused frustration among some customers who stated they are having trouble drinking from the new lids.
This change is a step forward in the company's efforts to achieve its sustainability goals, as stated by a Starbucks company representative.
"On February 11, a small number of stores in 14 states started using commercially compostable cups and lids as part of our efforts to reduce waste and meet local market needs," the spokesperson said to FOX Business.
Drinking coffee at a specific time of day may lower the risk of death, according to a new study.
Starbucks is aiming to make all of its cups either compostable, recyclable, or reusable by the year 2030, as stated on the company's website.

The switch enables the company to comply with local laws in specific cities that have enacted legislation mandating a shift away from single-use plastic.

The new cups, made from molded fiber, come with both flat and dome-shaped lids, suitable for carrying regular iced coffee and even whipped frappuccinos.

Many customers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the new designs in multiple Reddit posts, saying that the cups are uncomfortable to drink from and that the lids don't seal properly.

"What in the world, Starbucks??" the Reddit user exclaimed in the post.
For customers who don't like the new compostable designs, Starbucks noted that there are other options available.
"Customers are also welcome to bring in their clean, personal reusable cup, or simply order 'to stay' and have their drink served in a ceramic mug or glass," a Starbucks spokesperson said.
"We're dedicated to innovation, testing, and continuous learning to meet the expectations of our partners and customers, as well as the demands of the markets we serve," the spokesperson said.
