He's set to make his debut in the UK's The Hundred after signing with the Welsh Fire on the tournament's "deadline day".
The following players were confirmed for the 2025 edition on deadline day: New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, Afghanistan spin expert Rashid Khan, and South African trio David Miller, Faf du Plessis and Heinrich Klaasen.

Smith was signed with the Welsh Fire for the inaugural year of the 100-ball competition, but the champion batsman never took the field because the tournament was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year's women's tournament is set to kick off on August 5, a day before the men's event gets underway.
"I'm stoked to be joining Welsh Fire later this summer," Smith said.
Glad to be finally heading to Wales, originally I was meant to be part of The Hundred at the start of the competition.
G'day, I've been keeping an eye on The Hundred from afar and I'm stoked to get involved. It looks like a real ripper of a competition and the cricket's top-notch, with heaps of talented players at every team.
I'm looking forward to giving the new format a fair dinkum go and hopefully contributing to the team with Mike Hussey and the rest of the mob.
Stoinis will be playing for the Trent Rockets, Lanning has signed with the Oval Invincibles, and Schutt will be with the Birmingham Phoenix.
Smith is currently captaining Australia at the 50-over Champions Trophy tournament in Pakistan.
