The show was the most-watched Prime Video original series ever released, attracting a massive 170 million viewers globally, and although the second season didn't quite match those numbers, there's been growing interest in a third season for months now.

Cast members including Morfydd Clark, who plays Galadriel, and Ismael Cruz Córdova, who plays Arondir, are expected to reprise their roles. The series is being produced by Amazon Studios and is a prequel to J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth stories.

Prequel series will leap forward several years from the events of the previous season. As per an official statement, season three will occur at the peak of the War of the Elves and Sauron, with the Dark Lord striving to forge the One Ring that will provide him with the advantage he needs to win the war and ultimately conquer all of Middle-earth.
The Rings of Power Season 2
Wrapped up on October 2, 2024, the final episode was the stuff of legend, sending fans into a frenzy. In the finale, Galadriel made a vow to track down Sauron, with Elrond reluctantly joining her on the quest, while the Dark Lord went on the hunt for his own allies. Meanwhile, a dark cloud loomed over the dwarven kingdom of Khazad-dûm, the island kingdom of Númenor started to fall apart and a weak Harfoot set off to the uncharted lands of Rhûn to help her enigmatic, enormous companion.
Series three has been confirmed. The award-winning series is currently in pre-production at its new production base, Shepperton Studios, and filming will start in autumn this year. Further information will be revealed in the coming months.
