Labor pledges to cut student debt by 20 per cent if re-elected

Education Minister Jason Clare has promised to reduce student debt by 20% if the Labor government led by Anthony Albanese wins the upcoming federal election.

“G'day mate, that will chuff three million Aussies right around the country,” Mr Clare said during Question Time on Thursday.

“We reckon that's a good idea – the Libs reckon that's thoroughly rotten.”
