Calling Cynthia a "wonderful performer" and "great singer", Tim was then asked: "But Jesus doesn't have to be a male?"
I don't think so," he insisted. "Nobody truly knows what Jesus looks like, and the image of Jesus that many people have is likely inaccurate.
Tim continued: "It's an opera and it's a well-established production so I think there's no logical reason why it can't be done."

He added, "I believe that in an established piece, there's no reason it can't be done in many forms, and I think Cynthia, one of the best singers on the planet, will do a fantastic job."
When the host asked if Petula Clark could play Nelson Mandela on stage, her guest replied: "It could be. It's unlikely, but yes, absolutely. Why not?"
