Flight from JFK diverted to Rome amid 'security issue'

An American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi was diverted unexpectedly on Sunday and landed in Rome with a fighter jet escort due to a reported "possible security concern."

The flight landed safely at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport at 4:21 in the local time zone.

The airline reported that 199 passengers and 15 crew members were on board. They were then transported by bus to an airport terminal where they were screened by security personnel.
