Have become a highly sought-after product in recent years, especially the Airwrap, which consistently sells out.

These products are so popular because they meet and exceed peoples' needs. In fact, Shark offers a range of vacuums, such as upright, cordless and handheld models, all designed to give users the best cleaning results for their money.

Are Shark vacuums really worth it? Everything you need to know about Shark vacuums

The parent company of Shark, SharkNinja, has been well-known since it was started in 1994. People who like Shark say that their vacuums, especially their bagless upright models, work just as well as more expensive brands, but for less money.

One of their high-end options features a collapsible handle that enables users to access areas underneath furniture or fold it to save space for freestanding storage.

.

We tested these vacuums by spreading synthetic and real hair, cereal and sparkly particles on smooth floors, medium-density carpet and thick carpet. For the most part, all models worked very well after going over the surfaces three times. Most vacuums still left behind a few stray hairs or sparkly fragments on the carpet, but "a single additional pass would have picked everything up," according to our Product Testing Team.

Our team found that Shark vacuums are, in fact, lightweight machines that are easy to handle and transport. Moreover, they're hassle-free to put together, to empty, and can be stored in an upright position without the need for wall mounts. We were also impressed by the brand's Clean Sense IQ feature, which dynamically adjusts the suction level based on the amount of dirt it picks up. "I could feel the Clean Sense IQ adjusting the vacuum's suction level as I rolled it over the carpet," says our team who tested the Strato. "It automatically kicks in more power, or takes over, when it encounters a tough cleaning job."

When it came to picking up big messes of cornflakes and glitter on both vinyl and carpet, it was easy to empty and felt like it self-propelled, making it simple to move over thick carpet, according to our testers.

All about Dyson vacuums

Currently serves as the most powerful cordless vacuum on the market.

Many vacuum cleaners, in addition to their standard cleaning capabilities, provide extra features to help clean hard-to-reach areas and conquer difficult stains, including pet hair.

A Dyson vacuum can be quite expensive, but the brand guarantees its products' reliability by providing a two-year warranty on cordless vacuums and a five-year warranty on ones that use a cord.

.

Overall, we found that Dyson vacuums are well-made, simple to empty, and have user-friendly attachments that click into place easily. Additionally, we found that Dyson's edge-to-edge feature worked consistently well across all vacuums, even the most affordable model. Nonetheless, we also determined that there is still room for improvement.

We put each vacuum to the test again by scattering hair, cornflakes, and glitter on vinyl floors, medium-pile carpet, and high-pile carpet. While all the models did a great job of sucking up glitter and hair from carpets in just three passes, the results were inconsistent with cereal, especially on vinyl floors. During our testing, some models just moved the cereal around, while others didn't pick up any unless the vacuum was placed directly on top of it. The only exception was the Gen5outsize, which was able to crush the cereal and then suck it up. "For large debris, rely on the Gen5outsize," advises the Product Testing Team.

This alternative vacuum cleaning option is a close runner-up. This affordable Dyson model, priced at $470, performed exceptionally well in our tests by picking up glitter, hair, and even delicate cereal bits on various surfaces, including medium-pile carpets. Additionally, it was easy to maneuver. "This is more agile than the Gen5outsize, which shares many of the same attachments," our team observed. That being said, they noted that this model has a smaller 0.14-gallon dust container than the Gen5outsize, which might require emptying more often. Fortunately, emptying the container is straightforward.

Another thing to consider is that none of the Dyson vacuums we tested can stay upright on their own for storage without using the special wall-mount device that comes with them. That means if you can't install the wall-mount, you'll need to store your vacuum either lying flat or leaning against a wall.

How dependable are Shark versus Dyson vacuums?

How long do vacuum cleaners typically last?

It's essential to follow a consistent cleaning routine, including tasks like emptying the dustbin or trash can, replacing filters, and checking for potential blockages.

Both manufacturers are known for creating a wide selection of unique handheld vacuums and lightweight uprights. It's crucial to research and review each brand thoroughly to decide on the one that caters to your specific cleaning needs and budget. Consider a mix of powerful suction abilities, the possibility for multiple speed controls or attachments, the lightweight portability factor, and easy storage as key considerations.
