Auburn atop AP Top 25 for 7th straight week; preseason No. 1 KU out, ending ranked run at 80 weeks

For the seventh consecutive week on Monday, Kansas, which had been ranked number one in the men's basketball preseason poll, fell out of the rankings for the first time in nearly four years, ending its streak of being ranked at 80 consecutive weeks.

The Jayhawks were dropped from the poll for the first time since February 8, 2021, when the season was played during the COVID-19 pandemic. This ended a record 231 consecutive weeks that Kansas was ranked in the Top 25.

The Big 12 had three teams ranked in the top 10 and a total of five ranked teams, similar to the Big Ten, which also had five teams in the poll. The ACC had three teams, the Big East had two, and the American and West Coast conferences each had one team represented.
