All flights cancelled at major European airport for 24 hours
On 28 February, commuters should expect significant disruptions to their trips.

Every day, Athens Airport is the largest and most hectic airport in Greece, and the country's primary international entry point. It is also a key hub for many European and international airlines.
Transport, medical evacuations, military aircraft, humanitarian aid deliveries, and search and rescue operations will continue uninterrupted.

On February 28, 2023, a goods train and a passenger train crashed, resulting in the deaths of 57 people and 85 others being injured.
The crash, which remains the deadliest rail disaster in Greece's history to this day, is said to have revealed serious shortcomings in the country's railway safety systems.
Following the incident, the Greek transport minister resigned.

It's been said: "Mass protests and extensive disruptions to public services are planned to occur throughout Greece on February 28."
‘All public transport will face significant disruptions and service suspensions. Ferries, national trains, and air traffic controllers will conduct a 24-hour strike. Expect flight cancellations and delays for domestic and international flights to and from all airports in Greece.
‘Public services, including hospitals, will experience significant disruptions and may only be able to cope with urgent situations.’
The industrial action is backing both justice for the victims, many of whom were university students heading back to university, and a push for more safety improvements in Greece's transport systems.
This isn't the first time demonstrations have been held in response to the train crash. Last month, the relatives of the victims staged a mass protest, criticising the way the disaster was handled by the authorities.
It was said the freight train was carrying hazardous chemicals that caught fire, along with claims of authorities covering up the crash. However, the government strongly denies this.
As for the flight disruption, travel specialists have advised people to be prepared for mayhem.
One of the airlines that could be impacted by the strike on Friday advised customers travelling that day to check the status of their flights on their Flight Tracker page.
They added: ‘We understand this is out of our control, but we're sorry for any trouble it's causing and want to let everyone know we'll do our best to keep any disruptions to a minimum because of the strike action.’
Sky Express has today announced that it's cancelling all its domestic and international flights on February 28 because of the strike.
Aegean Airways and Cyprus Airways have also confirmed changes to flights in and out of Athens.
