The New Tesla Model Y’s Turn Signal Stalks Are a Trend Worth Following
Maybe.
The exterior features of the Model Y now include a brand new front section that resembles a Cybertruck and a rear light bar with a design that diffuses light, bringing in a lot of modern tech. At the same time, inside the vehicle, you can now find front seats that serve as a nice place for cooling, a big rear touchscreen measuring 8.0-inches, and a new steering wheel design. However, it's an interesting fact that the turn signal stalk has been kept intact.
The tech company Tesla has been redesigning its cars to remove bulky items such as instrument clusters, climate control panels, and other features, creating a more open cabin space. In this new design, vehicles no longer have traditional steering column stalks or gear shifters, which are typically used to control various functions.
Want to let fellow passengers know your intentions as a driver? There are steering wheel-mounted buttons for that. It's quite straightforward and won't cause any distractions. As for shifting gears, simply hit the accelerator pedal to automatically switch to drive mode. That's simple enough. The car's Auto Shift feature can even predictively switch between reverse and drive gears, kind of like how your phone corrects your autocorrect, but if it can't do that, you can simply use the touchscreen controls to change gears. Alternatively, there are overhead buttons in the headliner for backup. To be honest, it's better than nothing, but they're only located on the steering wheel. One advantage is that they exist.
The act was considered a disruption to the Tesla Force. Descriptions like "primitive," "completely ineffective," and "going in reverse" appeared in the Twitter comments at the time.

Even with touch feedback signals, you still need to look away from the road to focus on the signals.
After that, we'll have all functions accessible via touch controls.
The ongoing trend is to integrate full-cabin display screens, yet there still appears to be a consumer desire for traditional vehicle control functionalities.
