However, it's an interesting fact that the turn signal stalk has been kept intact.

In this new design, vehicles no longer have traditional steering column stalks or gear shifters, which are typically used to control various functions.

As for shifting gears, simply hit the accelerator pedal to automatically switch to drive mode. That's simple enough. The car's Auto Shift feature can even predictively switch between reverse and drive gears, kind of like how your phone corrects your autocorrect, but if it can't do that, you can simply use the touchscreen controls to change gears. Alternatively, there are overhead buttons in the headliner for backup. To be honest, it's better than nothing, but they're only located on the steering wheel. One advantage is that they exist.
