Subaru's hardcore family SUV revealed
A new Subaru Forester sporting a rugged-lookin' Wilderness pack was recently unveiled in a video online, gettin' a big reaction from Subaru fanatics.

Whether the leakage was a mix-up or a mistake isn't known. Either way, Subaru has now censored the video and fuzzed out the Forester in the background, but not before the quick-off-the-mark and highly critical online community could snap screen shots of the original and post 'em on social media platforms.

The Wilderness package comes with exclusive wheels sporting all-terrain tyres, lifted suspension, more powerful engines, tow hooks, and cosmetic touches that include rugged-lookin' front and rear bumpers, and side panels.

We've got an image of a Subaru Forester that's not high-res, but looking at the car's height, wheels and exterior trim, I reckon it's likely sporting the new Wilderness package.
Currently, the Aussie Subaru website shows Wilderness versions of the Crossrek and Outlander, but not for the Forester which arrived in its six-generation form last year, 2024.
has confirmed it plans to bring Wilderness editions to Australia, but the exact arrival date is yet to be confirmed.
And with the vehicle's arrival expected around the middle of next year, the Forester seen in the video could well be it.

The brand new 2019 Forester will arrive in Australia this year, with its previous MD Blair Read, who's since been replaced by Scott Lawrence, saying he's thrilled to see the hybrid model join the lineup too.
"It's our number-one selling model in Australia, so we have to put our best face forward - we reckon a strong hybrid tech will be a real game-changer for us. Alongside some other things that we'll keep under wraps until the launch," he said.
At this stage, our plan is to launch with both petrol and hybrid - there'll be a brief break in deliveries as we switch to the new model.
