Notre Dame LB Had Powerful, Tear-Filled Message About His College Career After Loss
In Monday night's CFP national championship game in Atlanta, the Fighting Irish started out strong, scoring a touchdown on an 18-play drive to get the game underway but ultimately couldn't keep pace with the heavily favored Buckeyes.
The loss was devasting for Notre Dame, which has been unable to capture a national championship since 1988. Emotions ran high afterward, particularly for senior linebacker Jack Kiser, who allowed his feelings to surface in his postgame press conference, where he openly expressed his sadness with tears.
His message about his experiences at Notre Dame and what he will remember most about them was deeply moving:
Just looking back on my six years here, I think it's the people that stick out to me," Kiser said. "From being a young player just trying to figure things out as a freshman and looking up to guys like Drew White and Bo Bauer, to being a part of the team with my close friends on JD and Marist, and then this year coming back with a different mindset and getting to know great guys like Riley and just being on that journey with them.
It's really all about the people, they're what make this a one-of-a-kind place. It indicates the kind of direction our program is going in. The individuals working here are exceptional, the very best.
Kiser wrapped up his final season with 90 tackles and two sacks.
Some weeks back, the College Football Playoff Committee hashed out the compromises necessary to keep the playoff intact for the near and (hopefully) distant future.
