Norah O'Donnell Sets Date For Her Final ‘CBS Evening News' Broadcast As Anchor – Update

It is now January 23, 2025, according to confirmation by CBS on Friday.

This edition will only be available on the West Coast.

The network adjusted the airdate by one day, ensuring that O'Donnell's farewell show would be a full national broadcast.

Returns to New York as its primary base after a five-year tenure based in Washington, D.C.

On January 24, the CBS news division informed its staff that it will be ending January 24, marking the end to her five-plus year run as well as the show's long-term stint in Washington, D.C.

In July, O'Donnell announced she would be leaving her anchor role after the 2024 election. She plans to move into a new position as a senior correspondent, conducting in-depth, high-profile interviews. She is expected to depart on January 24, four days after Donald Trump's inauguration for a second term as President of the United States.

She also took on varying duties as a supervising producer of the nightly news broadcast.

"When big news breaks," said Wendy McMahon, CEO of CBS News and Stations, regarding anchor announcements Dickerson and DuBois. Dickerson and DuBois will be based in New York, as part of a team with regular coverage from Washington D.C. led by Margaret Brennan, and weather segments from Lonnie Quinn.

The individual who had stepped down as head of CBS News will oversee the field and newsroom and newsgathering teams as well as CBS News Radio.

When she announced her departure, she stated, "It's time to do something different," according to a memo to staff. "This presidential election will be my seventh as a journalist, and for many of us in this business we typically view our careers in terms of these milestone events," she noted.
