Jackery’s new solar panels are indistinguishable from your roof
What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of solar panels on a home? Typically, it's the square, black photovoltaic cells. While those do function properly, they're not exactly the most visually appealing options. This can be a problem, mostly in neighborhoods with strict homeowners' associations. The Jackery Solar Roof presents a more attractive alternative that resembles terracotta roofing tiles almost identically.
The Solar Roof has a conversion rate exceeding 25%. That may not seem like a lot, but the typical efficiency rating for standard solar panels is usually between 15% and 22%, positioning Jackery significantly ahead of the competition. These panels are also more durable than a standard roof, as they are resistant to impact and hail and come with a 30-year warranty. Notably, the standard lifespan of a normal roof is about 20 years.
The Jackery Solar Roof is just one piece of the overall system. It integrates with the HomePower Energy System to lower energy expenses, storing solar energy for later use and minimizing reliance on the power grid. With energy costs projected to increase, this system offers a means to reduce expenses. Naturally, the installation cost is substantial, ranging from around $7,000 to $20,000 on average, but if you plan to stay in your home for a decade or more, it's likely to pay for itself. The battery capacity varies from 7.7kWh to 15.4kWh per inverter, with a maximum total capacity of 123.2kWh.
Another key component of the system is the HomePower Hub. This important feature manages the energy load, supplying power to the areas of your home that require it, at the specific time they need it. It efficiently shifts power from one area to another in less than 10 milliseconds.
Aside from carting it around on a dolly, you can easily move this unit. Two Jackery 5000 units can output up to 14,400W of power. When paired with all the expanders, the entire system produces an impressive 60kWh of electricity. As a point of reference, the average household uses around half that amount in a single day.
Installing a solar system will yield immediate benefits, but think of it as a long-term investment. The system, given time, will pay for itself and more, and the extensive warranty will cover most potential problems. If you plan to invest in solar energy, consider looking at the potential tax savings you might qualify for – it can be a significant advantage, especially since they often last for several years.
