There's always a spot for comfy bars like The Snug and cafes like The Portuguese Bakery in Gymea, but Fior is taking it to the next level. Locals Tristan Rosier and Rebecca Fanning gave Surry Hills' Arthur and Jane a run for their money, and there's a cracker of an atmosphere in this bustling dining room, with punters downing negronis and smashing anchovies onto their focaccia.

Cover the table with antipasti, from LP's mortadella to small arrow squid in a light, crunchy batter. Then there's mafalde in a vibrant green cavolo nero sauce oozing with stracciatella, or prawns from Skull Island split and tossed with a spicy kick.

Gees, check out that gelato cart rolling past! Yeah! Even on busy nights, the service can be a bit slack, but Fior is stacked with cocktail drinks, pasta, steaks and that ripper of a tiramisu – all the good stuff for a top celebration.
