Newsweek Opinion Editor Batya Ungar-Sargon discusses the situation in Russia-Ukraine after US President Donald Trump said he'd start negotiations between the two countries.

"Gobsmacked, he (Donald Trump) managed to get Hamas and Israel to the table, but still can't crack Zelensky and Putin," Ms Ungar-Sargon said.

“He did say in his press conference that he'd be open to slapping sanctions on Russia if Putin doesn't come to the negotiating table soon, which to me implies that the delay is at the Russian end.”
