The new 17-minute monologue led to an episode that may have felt noticeably shorter to many viewers, primarily because the lengthy monologue abbreviated the sketches that usually comprise the episode. Chappelle kicked off the episode with a mini stand-up comedy set, featuring a few surprising jokes, as well as some heartfelt and reflective moments.

He quipped that he was "tired of being controversial" and wanted to start fresh, then made some jokes about the L.A. fires and poked fun at the P. Diddy scandal, remarking that "I can't recall a single instance where I threw a used baby oil bottle in the trash."

During his visit to the Palestine area, he was proud of Carter's visit and said that even though he wasn't sure if Carter was a good president, he was absolutely certain that Carter was a great man.

Chappelle also noted that he hoped President Trump would "do better next time" and expressed that sentiment to everyone in the US, saying, "Please, all of us, do better next time." He asked that they "not forget our humanity" and have "empathy for displaced people, whether they're in the Palisades or Palestine."

Scheduled returns on January 25, 2025, with Timothée Chalamet hosting and performing as the musical guest.
