Commanders mistakenly double-covering Lions OL on TD shows why Ben Johnson will be a head coach soon

He is considered the most top-notch head coaching candidate available in the current NFL hiring process.

I'm very fascinated by the expertise of that incredible coach.

One thing Johnson has achieved is getting Lions' offensive linemen to throw passes in a way that makes opponents treat them as real threats. On Saturday night, right before Sam LaPorta's impressive one-handed touchdown, the Washington Commanders had to take extra care with Lions' lineman Dan Skipper, considering him a legitimate target as a receiver.

It was so effective that linebackers Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu doubled-up on Skipper, freeing up LaPorta and Jared Goff's receiver/throwing lane. Just watch No. 54 and No. 4 team up with the Lions' No. 70 below.

It's too funny:

If you want evidence that Johnson is a top-notch coach, this game is a clear indicator. The team that hires Johnson as its next head coach will be making an excellent choice.

Coaches incorrectly assigning extra defenders to block against the Lions' offensive line on a touchdown play highlights why Ben Johnson is well-suited to become a head coach someday.
