5 great Amazon Prime benefits you’re probably not using
Let's face the facts: Amazon Prime membership fees are not decreasing. My credit card just took the hit from the automatic annual renewal.
As I nostalgically think back to the $79 annual fee back in 2005, which has skyrocketed to $139 today, I find myself wondering, “Why am I paying this much for two-day shipping and a streaming service?”
It's worth noting that it can help offset the cost and then some. The issue is not everyone is aware of all the options available to them.
Here's a look at some of the lesser-known features and benefits.
Free Grubhub+
Most Prime members don't even realize they have free restaurant delivery as part of their membership. This is a benefit that's potentially out of sight, out of mind, but I'm sorry you're now aware of it.
The Grubhub+ partnership offers discounts on meals, rewards in the form of credits for future orders, and waived delivery fees for participating restaurants.
You can link your Amazon Prime account to Grubhub, and then you're all set.
RxPass: $5 unlimited prescriptions
This is a prescription service that charges a flat monthly fee of $5 for an unlimited amount of generic medications.
It's available in all US states except for California, Texas, and Washington, and you don't need to battle with your insurance to have it covered, as long as your doctor has provided you with a prescription or 50.
$0.10 discount per gallon of gasoline
enables members to save 10 cents per gallon at over 7,000 gas stations across the country.
You can find participating BP, Amoco, and AM PM stations where you can save on gas, then use those savings to buy discounted fountain drinks and high-carb snacks inside.
Gaming galore
Provides free full-game downloads, exclusive in-game content, and Twitch channel subscriptions.
At least one of the games included each month is excellent, and the games that I've downloaded alone have more than paid off the annual Prime fee.
There's also a cloud gaming section where you can stream popular titles to Amazon's Luna gaming service. If you've got an Amazon Fire TV or Fire Stick, it's a fantastic way to play games on the big screen without buying a full console.
Unlimited photo storage
Why shell out money for cloud storage when Prime gives you unlimited storage for full-resolution photos? Heck, why bother deleting photos at all? Just snap away without worrying about the consequences!
app.
Download it to your mobile device and turn on the automatic backup feature so your treasured memories are safely stored and easily accessible.
